Way of Hearts Foundation continues our support the Okhmatdyt National Children’s Specialised Hospital —the county’s #1 medical facility for child medicine. This time our teamcooperated with Okhmatdyt about the treatment areas of Building No. 13. They also have sustained damage as a result of missile strikes and are in need of repair.
Building No. 13 houses the paediatric ward, an infectious disease unit with isolation rooms for young children, and a paediatric endocrinology department. Children with the most complex conditionsare treated here — including immune deficiencies and metabolic disorders, respiratory infectious diseases, post-operative somatic conditions, sepsis and spinal muscular atrophy (SMA).
The ward's multidisciplinary team works closely with these young and vulnerable patients. The physicians here have extensive experience managing severe clinical cases where diagnostic andtherapeutic options at earlier stages of care have been exhausted.
During the first phase of restoration works, funded entirely by the Way of Hearts Foundation members & partners, we managed to do:
The next phase will include further linoleum replacement, wall plastering, repainting, and bathroom renovation in the second wing of the second floor. We warmly invite you to join us in supportingthis project via this link.
Despite the ongoing war and significant damage, OKHMATDYT Children's Hospital continues to care for at least 20,000 young patients every year. Building No. 13 isequipped with modern medical technology and its team works tirelessly to make the experience of diagnosis and treatment as comfortable as possible for the children. The ward's staff also involves rehabilitation specialistsand allied health professionals throughout the treatment process.
